The Navajo Nation Treaty of 1868 was signed during the forced removal and incarceration known as "The Long Walk." The treaty was signed by 23 Navajo leaders, specifically Chief Barboncito, Chief Manuelito, and Delgado, who inspired me to create this typeface. Delgado was the only Navajo leader to sign his name on the treaty instead of an "X" even though English was not his first language. Delgado crossed out his name already written and carefully copied his signature on the page.
